Running Pacing Calculator

Pacing is the key to a good race day. Too fast early and you will burn out. Too slow and you miss your goal. Our calculator converts your target time into pace per kilometer and speed for any race distance.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter your race distance in km (42.195 = marathon, 21.097 = half marathon).
  2. Enter your target finish time in minutes.
  3. Click Calculate to see pace per km, speed, and distance in miles.

The Formula

Pace = Target Time / Distance. Speed = Distance / Target Time. Conversions: 1 km = 0.621371 miles.

Why It Matters

You are training for a marathon (26.2 miles) with a target of 4 hours (9:10/mile pace). At this pace, your halfway point (mile 13.1) should be at 2:00:00. Being 30 seconds behind at mile 10 means picking up to 8:48/mile.
